...the
bluejacking website |
| |
|
From
a young age 17-year-old ENTP jellyellie has been a prominent figure
in the media for a range of unconventional entrepreneurial achievements.
At the age of 13 she created the hit website bluejackQ.com, the
world’s first and most cited website about bluejacking –
the art of sending anonymous messages via Bluetooth mobile phones.
bluejackQ, now with 5.9 million page views, took the media by
storm and jellyellie was featured in national and international
print, TV, newspapers, magazines, websites, books and academic
papers such as the BBC, CNN, Slashdot, The Times, etc.

...the
home education |
|
jellyellie went to school until age 14, when she became incredibly
frustrated with the constraints of the school system and left to
be home educated. She joined a local home education group, met lots
of crazy people, followed an autonomous route of education (no teachers,
timetables, lessons or cirriculum) and generally had a great time.
She took one GCSE - Business Studies - and numerous other weird
qualifications, including a CompTIA A+ and RYA Competent Crew. |

...the
book |
|
At 15 jellyellie went on to sign her first publishing deal for
her book How Teenagers Think, an insider’s guide for parents
about bringing up teenagers. jellyellie was inspired to tackle
this issue after noticing a lack of parenting books actually written
by teenagers, so she set out to give parents a real insider’s
view into what it’s like being a teenager today. Not only
does jellyellie use her views to broach 21 of the most common
subjects parents and their teens face today – from sex and
drugs to money, school and being spoilt – she has also interviewed
a wide range of her friends from the length and breadth of the
country to gather their opinions. These unique, lively interviews
are a real highlight of the book as it’s obvious jellyellie
has a real interest in people and is able to show adults the teenage
world in a way they can understand.
jellyellie
and How Teenagers Think have received a lot of media attention
from both national and international TV, radio, magazines and
newspapers, and the book was serialised in the Mail on Sunday’s
YOU magazine. How Teenagers Think is stocked in every Waterstone's
in the country, is a Top 40 Amazon bestseller, and has spent a
day on the front page of Amazon Books due to nothing but the sheer
strength of jellyellie and the book - not a penny was spent on
marketing. |

...the
voice of the MSN generation |
|
Dubbed "The voice of the MSN generation" by The
Guardian, jellyellie continues to make frequent appearances
on national TV and radio programmes as an expert voice of her
generation.
jellyellie
speaks at professional conferences and seminars, such as the Bookseller's
recent What Teens Want trade seminar giving adults an insight
into today's teenage world. jellyellie also speaks to students
and teenagers, inspiring them to achieve their own great successes.
After
speaking at a young enterprise event for the Isle of White Young
Chamber UK, jellyellie was invited by the chief executive, who
was present at her talk, to become an honorary member of the Young
Chamber UK board. jellyellie accepted her role with bounds of
enthusiasm, and is looking forward to helping shape the direction
of this body, encouraging and enthusing schools and business to
work together to help inspire young people.
jellyellie
also undertakes work to help companies gain an insight into teenagers
today; she is currently working three days a week for youth marketing
agency Livity in London in the role of Senior Adult Advisor/Social
Networking Expert.

|
...the
hobbies |
|
Of course, jellyellie loves reading and writing, and she naturally
fell into the position of editor of www.spinebreakers.co.uk, a
new online community for teenagers who love reading. The website
is funded and created by Penguin books, but Penguin have handed
over the running of the site and content creation to a team of
8 teen editors, of which jellyellie is one. Through her role,
jellyellie has had the opportunity to meet and interview a range
of highly acclaimed authors - such as conducting an exclusive
podcast interview with Nick Hornby about his new book Slam - and
go to lots of awesome launch parties in London. Where the canapés
all tend to be crap but she once found some metre long breadsticks
which were quite fun.
jellyellie's
other interests are listening to music, playing the guitar and
bass (she likes slap bass), juggling and spinning poi (preferably
on fire). Her biggest passion is for anything to do with the sea:
sailing yachts, windsurfing, wakeboarding, and flying powerkites
all, um, float her boat - see the sailing page for more info.
jellyellie
also has a bit of a weird interest in people - she loves the whole
psychology/personality/body-language thing and could easily spend
a day in London just watching everybody walk past. However, this
is a little strange, so jellyellie just sticks to "enjoys
meeting new people" - making contacts is her favourite pastime.
|
|
...the
future |
|
jellyellie's
goal in life is to have fun. Through doing so, she will meet tonnes
of awesome people, and "make shitloads of money". OK,
so her proper goal is to write books, be a freelance writer/journalist,
then set up her own business (currently in the process of 'secret
start-up') and become a multi-billionaire magnanimous entrepreneur.
Sorted.
